Hatton Garden Heist

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-35767110

Six, seven years each - out in three or four.

With two thirds of the £14m not recovered (and presumably long gone) it this not a massive result for these old men? They're out in a few years and will find ways to keep hold of their cash.

If they are career criminals I doubt prison holds any fears for them. How much would you go to prison for?

Fair fucking play to them, hope they get out a lot earlier.

They should stay in prison until the lot is repaid. Simples.

Fucking thieves, clearly have no dignity for themselves in not wanting to work for a living.

Turns out crime does pay.

Can see why some have a grudging admiration for them.

Good luck to them! Hope they see out a decent retirement...

Agree.
Sentence should start when the LOOT is paid back.
And one member of their family should be locked up each week until it is.
Including grandchildren and pets.

Re: Hatton Garden Heist
So how about all the politicians that stole fuck knows how much off of us, the general public, for years on end?

This mob stole some jewellery off some tax dodging cunts who don't need the money, and they feel the need to make an example of THEM?

Nah, good luck to them.

Have read about people getting less than this for crimes that I would consider far worse.

Re: Hatton Garden Heist
They've been made an example of Debs, it's fucking ridiculous.

There are gangs made up of people from a certain part of the world, robbing old people on a big scale across East London, and they are not even being nicked, because it's a waste of police time. And this in cases where there has been serious distress caused, mental and physical that is unrepairable, I know that for an absolute fact. Yet a few old blokes do a high profile job, with no one hurt, and people want prison time to match the VALUE of the assets taken?

Nah, not for me.

Re: Hatton Garden Heist
I was thinking more of women getting beaten by partners and getting paltry sentences. I read about one woman who was so badly beaten by her ex that he left her only able to use one of her thumbs. He got four years. Then she was told she had to let him see the child. He had beaten her because she wouldn't have an abortion.

Well, I was trying to keep the debate on point Debs, but yeah, consider the fact Adam Johnson will get less time in nick, it's all a bit strange really.

Re: Hatton Garden Heist
Sorry yeah, just makes me really angry that we'll put people away for longer if they take property (esp off the wealthy) than we do if they wreck a persons life.

Crimes against money are worse than against the person.

Prob started with the great train robbery.

It probably started with highwaymen :-)

I thought they got off unbelievably lightly bearing in mind the amount of money still unrecovered.

Re: Hatton Garden Heist
Good luck to them. If you can afford to have shit loads if jewellery and gold locked up in a box then you can afford to lose it

Re: Hatton Garden Heist
They're due back in court for 'the proceeds of crime' hearing, in a year I think, and if they don't cough up the rest of the haul they'll all get more years.

Poor sods everyone's looking for the last bloke!
